Telehealth with a Texas-licensed therapist

Online therapy across Texas

Secure telehealth for adults and couples who are physically located in Texas at the time of service.

Therapy from a private space that works for you.

Secure telehealth offers access to KW Counseling without traveling to Dallas. It can reduce commute time and make continuity easier when work, caregiving, mobility, or distance would otherwise complicate attending therapy.

Online therapy can work well for many individual and relationship concerns, including anxiety, family-of-origin patterns, attachment, trauma-informed care, recovery support, communication, and life transitions. It is still a real appointment with preparation, privacy expectations, informed consent, and a clinical plan—not a casual video call.

Is online therapy a good fit?

Fit depends on more than personal preference. Together we consider privacy, technology, clinical needs, current safety, comfort with video, and whether the methods being considered translate appropriately to telehealth. Some people appreciate meeting from a familiar environment. Others concentrate better in the structure of an office or do not have enough privacy at home.

Telehealth may not provide the right level of support during certain crises, severe instability, medical risk, active withdrawal, or when privacy and emergency planning cannot be established. In-person treatment, local crisis resources, medical care, or a more intensive program may be recommended instead.

Preparing for a useful session

Create privacy

Choose a space where you can speak freely. Headphones, a closed door, a sound machine, or a conversation with household members about interruptions may help. Parked cars can offer privacy for some people, but driving during therapy is not appropriate.

Set up the technology

Use a charged device, stable connection, current browser, and camera position that allows comfortable conversation. Close unnecessary applications and keep a phone available if video disconnects.

Know the backup plan

At the beginning of a visit, Kristin may confirm your physical location and emergency contact information. We discuss what to do if the connection fails or urgent local help becomes necessary.

Individual and relationship appointments

Individual online therapy can include reflection, skill building, trauma-informed preparation, and selected focused approaches when clinically appropriate. For relationship sessions, each participant needs to be visible and able to hear, participate, and speak privately. Joining from separate locations can introduce legal, clinical, and technological questions that should be discussed before the appointment.

Telehealth is available only when the client is physically located in Texas at the time of service, even if the client ordinarily lives elsewhere. If travel or relocation changes your location, tell Kristin before the session so licensing requirements and options can be reviewed.

What beginning online looks like

Use the new-client scheduling option or email Kristin with a general question about fit. You will receive instructions for the secure client portal and digital intake paperwork. Before treatment, you can ask about privacy, technology, fees, emergency procedures, and whether in-person care might be preferable for a particular goal. Review the full new-client process or the fees and FAQ.
