Brainspotting Therapy
Accessing Deeper Healing Through the Brain–Body Connection
At KW Counseling, we believe lasting healing happens not only through insight but through direct access to the parts of the brain where trauma, emotion, and memory are held. Brainspotting is a powerful, neuroscience-informed therapy that allows us to gently and effectively reach these deeper levels of the brain—unlocking stored trauma, emotional blocks, and core beliefs that traditional talk therapy can’t always touch.
What Is Brainspotting?
Brainspotting (BSP) is a brain-based therapeutic approach developed by Dr. David Grand. It works on the principle that “where you look affects how you feel.” By identifying eye positions, called brainspots, that correlate with stored trauma or unresolved emotional experiences, Brainspotting helps access the brain’s natural ability to heal itself.
Unlike therapies that rely heavily on verbal processing, Brainspotting taps into the sub-cortical brain, where emotional regulation, memory, and survival responses live. This makes it uniquely effective for those dealing with:
Complex trauma and PTSD
Anxiety and panic
Depression
Chronic stress or burnout
Somatic symptoms
Performance blocks (athletic, creative, professional)
Attachment wounds or relational trauma
What Happens in a Session?
A Brainspotting session is grounded in a calm, attuned relationship between you and your therapist. Together, we’ll identify an eye position that connects to your internal experience— sometimes through physical sensations, emotions, or specific memories. From there, the brain does what it’s wired to do: process, integrate, and heal.
Sessions are often quieter than traditional therapy. You might find yourself going inward, experiencing shifts in your body or emotions as your nervous system releases what’s been held.
We integrate Brainspotting into your overall therapy plan, blending it with other models when helpful. This holistic approach ensures your healing is trauma-informed, collaborative, and grounded in safety.
Is Brainspotting Right for You?
Brainspotting is especially effective if you:
Feel stuck in traditional therapy
Have trauma that feels “beyond words”
Want a body-based approach to healing
Struggle with overthinking or emotional overwhelm
Are seeking deeper resolution at a nervous system level
Whether you’re working through trauma, navigating relationship pain, or wanting to move through emotional blocks, Brainspotting can offer profound breakthroughs—even for long-standing patterns.
